Each June 27th, millions of Canadians celebrate our nation’s diverse heritage. We recognize the contributions of many cultures to the growth and development of our country. To acknowledge the celebrations, we took a look at who and what makes Laura Canada the great organization it is.
Here’s how, as a team, we did our part to celebrate Multiculturalism Day.
At Laura, we grow our culture of belonging every single day—in which open hearts and minds combine to unleash the potential of a brilliant mix of a culturally diverse group of individuals. That is the heart of who we are.
This year, to celebrate Multiculturalism Day, we launched our own initiative to showcase the various cultures that bring the Laura family, and Canadian society, to life. How? We put diversity in the spotlight with photos of the people who truly bring our company to life: our incredible employees.
These responses echoed one of our strongest value offerings as a national retailer. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide excellent service to our customers, in the languages they feel most comfortable speaking. It’s proof that our employees are as diverse as the women and communities we serve.
In addition, we highlighted several remarkable employees, many of whom have been with us for many years. What makes their stories special? Laura was the first employer to take them onboard after they obtained work permits in Canada.
As a result, they’ve developed their skills, advanced their careers, broadened their networks, and horizons.
In line with Laura’s core values, this year’s Multiculturalism Day initiative was meant to strengthen our shared sense of belonging, family, and community around different cultures and heritages.
As we think about diversity and inclusion, we ask that we honour our stories and be present for each other, not only on Multiculturalism Day, but every day.
Happy Multiculturalism day!
