After a cup of coffee, Andrea is ready for a full day of juggling creative projects at Laura Canada. Over the past year, she has challenged herself to work with different elements of video and design.
What is your role at Laura Canada? Take us through a typical day.
My usual day starts with a coffee! I get to work on designing emails and other web-related projects alongside a wonderful team of talented designers. Although my role at Laura Canada is in graphic design, I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about video editing and creating a new story for every season’s collection!
How did you get into graphic design?
I’ve always been someone who liked studying different subjects and couldn’t figure out what I loved to do. After attending different courses, from science, psychology, accounting to physics, I realized none of them made me happy. I had a talk with my older sister, Mary, who encouraged me to try something more creative. After only a few courses in a graphic design program, I realized I had found my true passion!
What do you enjoy most about your job?
My favourite thing about my job is having many different types of projects to work on. I always feel like I’m learning something new.
What has been your biggest challenge in your role?
My biggest challenge has been expanding my knowledge of video editing to produce a new, eye-catching video for every season.
What is your proudest moment at Laura Canada?
One of my proudest moments at Laura Canada has to be when I worked on updating our email designs to give them a fresh, new look. I loved seeing them come to life and evolve throughout the season.
What are you most looking forward to in 2019?
I’m always looking forward to expanding my knowledge in graphic and video design and developing new ideas with our team.
What advice would you give someone who wants to work in this field?
If I had to give one piece of advice, it would be to take feedback or criticism in a positive way. There is so much potential to learn from what is being communicated to you.
