Diba Karimyar has worked at Laura since 2006. With a promotion to sales associate under her belt, she’s had the opportunity to develop new skills and test how far she can push herself to excel in her role. We had the chance to ask Diba a few questions about what it takes to work in customer service.
Hello Diba, first off congratulations on celebrating twelve years with Laura Canada! What made you choose Laura?
I used to come into Laura and Melanie Lyne to shop and I always left with a smile on my face. I noticed that they had the best teams. They always seemed to be helping each other and the managers were always kind.
Tell us about your job as a sales associate.
As a representative of Laura, a sales associate is responsible for dealing with any and all customer questions about the products and services offered by the company. Turning a customer into a happy customer while respecting company policies requires a combination of empathy and tact.
What would you say customer service means to you?
Customer service involves giving clients a good first impression of the business. It starts with a friendly greeting or a helpful attitude, and ends with a positive lasting impression. In customer service, determining the client’s needs and solving problems quickly will lead to satisfied returning customers.
What’s your favourite part about your position?
Talking to people is my favourite part. Being able to help customers find what they need is very fulfilling and making them happy makes me happy. I’m always determined to do my job well and am persistent enough to carry out my desires. Working as a store associate is my passion and I will continue to do my best.
What has been your biggest challenge in your role?
My biggest challenge is accomplishing all of my responsibilities as a sales associate on a daily basis. I’ve had to adapt to the product vocabulary, even though I was not fluent. During all these years, I have improved. Just being in contact with people helped me a lot.
What advice would you give to people who want to apply for a position as a sales associate at Laura?
I would say that the person should have very good communication skills as well as a positive attitude. You should always respect your team leaders and other co-workers. And above all, do your best to create a good work environment through all of your actions.
