Hello Michael, can you tell us what a warehouse & order management system coordinator does?
I am responsible for all warehouse management & order management training as well as doing everything in my power to ensure customer online orders are being fulfilled on time with accuracy. Part of my daily tasks, every morning is to verify the late orders for all stores.
You just celebrated your 8th anniversary at Laura! Congratulations! In which position did you start?
I first started as a warehouse clerk in 2010. My job as a warehouse clerk was to pack items for store distribution and putaway the overstock at our reserve locations. From warehouse clerk, I was promoted to reserve team leader. From reserve team leader, I was promoted to distribution & e-commerce foreman. My job was to manage a distribution team and ensure that distribution was up to date. From distribution & e-commerce foreman, I was promoted to warehouse & order management coordinator.
How did you know that you wanted to work in the retail industry?
There is a lot of knowledge to gain in the retail industry and I love expanding my mind to learn new things. Also, my grandmother and uncle used to work for Laura Canada, so this feels like home to me. My uncle was senior vice-president and my grandmother was warehouse manager at the time.
What has been your biggest challenge in your role?
I’ve had many challenges in my different positions, but I don’t think I’ve encountered my biggest challenge yet.
What is your proudest career moment at Laura?
My proudest career moment was when I was promoted to warehouse & order management system coordinator.
What do you hope to achieve in 2018?
I hope to continue on the path of information technology and help optimize our current processes as well as implement new ones.
