What does a director of sales do?
Passionate people are the key to the success of a region. Therefore, networking and hiring the best talent are always top of mind. Our customer is at the centre of everything we do, so my focus is to ensure that all stores have one thing in mind: offering every customer a unique and memorable shopping experience.
How? Each store uses an optimistic leadership style, an entrepreneurial and strategic spirit and great communication and coaching skills to motivate and direct all teams to success.
You just celebrated 20 years at Laura! Congratulations! In which position did you start?
I started as a store manager at Melanie Lyne and was promoted one year later to regional manager of the Melanie Lyne banner in Montreal.
You studied Fashion Merchandising at LaSalle College. How did it prepare you for your career in sales?
My studies in fashion merchandising helped me discover every facet of the retail world, from the buying, the marketing, the sales, the financials and, of course, the people.
What has been your biggest challenge in your role?
Success starts by finding the right people. Not giving up even though the right person may be hard to find. Hiring the one is so fulfilling and ensures direct success.
What is your proudest career moment at Laura?
I am very proud of my different promotions throughout my career, the financial success I was able to achieve through my leadership and, last but not least, I take great pride in coaching people – giving them wings in order for them to shine and have success.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to have a long career here?
Follow your passion, work with integrity and respect, promote teamwork and persevere. The sky is the limit!

A memorable year for Laura Canada and all of its employees!

My immediate supervisor – Danielle, VP of sales.
2. What is your favorite colour?
Black! It’s timeless! I wear black, but I have a colourful mind!
3. What are your favorite Montreal spots?
Wandering the streets of Old Montreal, Lunch at Olive and Gourmando, relaxing at Bota Bota spa, cocktails at Auberge St-Gabriel and romantic dinners at L’Épicier!
4. What is your favorite item of clothing from Melanie Lyne?
My black tuxedo pant suit with a jacket that goes down to the ankle. I will never give it up! It’s so elegant, stylish and timeless!
5. Who are your style icons/biggest inspirations?
Cate Blanchett, Michelle Obama and Nicole Kidman.
6. Where are you going on your next vacation?
Portugal! I just love Europe for its fashion, lifestyle and food!
